We left Queen’s House in Saskatoon at 7:00 a.m. for the bus ride to Prince Albert. On the outskirts of Saskatoon we saw a beautiful sunrise on the prairie horizon as we prayed Lauds. On the way we stopped in Duck Lake, the first foundation in Western Canada. The buildings are no longer there, but we saw the town and the cemetery where 5 of our sisters are buried. We thank God for the audacious YES of the 12 foundresses and the faith that rooted the Congregation in the immense land of the prairies.
We were warmly greeted by the sisters at the Provincial House and together we celebrated a festive Liturgy presided by the Bishop of the Prince Albert diocese, Albert Thévenot.
After a festive meal we enjoyed a tour of the house and school complex, including the infirmary. On the way back to Saskatoon we stopped at a Marian Shrine in St. Laurent, but our stay was short-lived because of rain. The parish of Duck Lake welcomed us in their parish church for the celebration of Vespers and opened their parish center so we could enjoy our bag lunch before continuing the ride back to Saskatoon. We gave joyful thanks to God for this enriching day and offered thanks in unity with our Canadian friends as they celebrate their feast of Thanksgiving.
